FreeBSD has the benefit of the OpenZFS filesystem. Likely the most amazingly
well engineered idea on the planet in the last half century. Okay that pushes
the idea out there but to be fair ZFS provides actual end-to-end integrity
checks on the data you store. Here is a crazy off the wall idea, just as a funny
thought, what if the data your store to a device was there intact later when
you wanted it? How would you know? For this you will want ZFS and multiple
